February 28, 2009, Montgomery, Alabama -- The AAF-Montgomery
presented its 2008-2009 ADDY® Awards for advertising creative
excellence Saturday night at the Montgomery Country Club. This annual
dinner and awards presentation was attended by 165 individuals of the
local advertising and media businesses.
Of the 240 entries received by the AAF-Montgomery, 36 professional
gold ADDY® Awards and 66 silver ADDY® Awards, 10 student gold ADDY®
awards and 37 student silver awards were presented. Entries were judged
based on creativity, originality and creative strategy.
Top professional awards of the evening went to the "Best of Show"
winners. Designer of the Year went to Senior Art Director from LWT
Communications, Camille Leonard, while Copywriter of the Year went to
Leon Barwick from Copperwing Design. LWT Communications captured the
Broadcast Best of Show for a television commercial for New Park.
Copperwing Design garnered Print Best of Show for its client Neptune
Technology Ad Campaign. Best of Show Interactive went to Copperwing
Design for Jackson Thornton Web Site. Copperwing Design received a
Mosaic award for Alabama Folk Arts Apprenticeship Catalog. The judges
also gave three Judges’ Choice awards, given to LWT Communications for
Footprints Ministry Fundraising, Studio Elle for Wedding Invitation for
Jason and Leigh Farrior and LWT Communications for the overall 129
Coosa Brand. Top student awards were also presented. The Student
Designer of the Year went to Daniel Plasa from Auburn Montgomery.
Student Best of Show and winner of a $500 Scholarship from Beasley
Allen Attorneys went to Turgay Tuncer from Troy University. Turgay
Tuncer also received an award fro Best Concept for an interactive piece
“The Human Project” as well as a Mosaic award for Poster Campaign,
Manifesto. Judges’ Choice award went to Hannah Keel from Troy
University for Christ’s Love Photography. The People’s Choice award,
where guests had the chance to vote on their favorite, was given to
Give it a Twirl, Cherokee H. Jones, Troy University.

The AAF-Montgomery ADDY® Awards Competition is sponsored by the
AAF-Montgomery, a member association comprised of advertising and media
professionals. Proceeds from the ADDY® Awards help support the
AAF-Montgomery's educational programs, public service projects and
proactive government relations efforts.
** The ADDY Awards Competition is a three-tiered national
competition conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation.
The ADDY Awards Competition is the advertising industry's largest and
most representative competition for creative excellence.
